COACH Mentor Training

Published on July 2, 2025

NewHope is excited to partner with Crossway LifeCare in running COACH mentoring in our local community. We are always looking for more mentors like Ian, and believe that everyone has something to offer! If you would like to find out more about COACH, there is a training coming up on Saturday 2nd of August, and you are invited.

COACH Mentor Training
Saturday 2 August at 9:30 am → 4:30 pm

COACH mentoring is a strengths-based, early intervention program that empowers people to overcome life challenges through intentional, long-term mentoring relationships. As a mentor, you’ll walk alongside someone for about an hour a week over 12 months, helping them set goals, build resilience, and reconnect with community, all while offering encouragement and consistent support.

This training day will introduce you to the principles of mentoring and give you a better understanding of the impact you can have in a participant’s life. You will be equipped to support participants facing tough times, such as social isolation, financial stress, relationship challenges, or mental health struggles. COACH gives you the tools to help without needing to be an expert.

NOTE: we will be running three simultaneous training sessions for various COACH streams. Please see the available ticket types below:

Family & Youth COACH
Community-based program mentoring adults and youth (year 7+). Mentoring usually occurs in a public place, with flexibility around times and locations.

Kids COACH
School-based program working in 3 primary schools close to Crossway’s Burwood East campus. Mentors must be available during school hours.

Financial COACH
Has a specific focus on helping people with financial issues. Mentors generally work with participants for 3-4 months, with most sessions held in the LifeCare office.

Also, if you have already done the COACH training but haven’t had an opportunity to use it, or haven’t for a while, there will be a Zoom refresher in July. Please contact Sally Agostino to find out more at sally.agostino@newhope.net.au
