A Call to Fast & Pray

Published on September 25, 2024

Expressions of interest for the position of Senior Pastor at NewHope are now open. As we take this next step in our succession journey, our Church Council and pastoral team are calling our church family to a season of prayer and fasting.

We are all invited to set aside each Thursday as a day to fast and pray (but if Thursdays don’t suit, feel free to choose another day that works for you).

You may fast for a single meal or the whole day, or you may choose to fast something other than food, as together we seek to humble ourselves and express our dependence on God.

We’ll be starting this week and going until expressions of interest close on the 31st of October.

“It’s not our strength that’s the focus of these six weeks. It’s the work of the Spirit. It’s a surrendered posture to him.”

You may like to check out Lance’s message from Sunday on the practice of abstinence as you prepare for this week.

We also invite you to follow along on social media for weekly encouragement and prompts to support your time of prayer and fasting, or you can download the collection HERE.

May this practice of surrender orientate our hearts towards God and grow us more into the image of Christ as we trust in Him.
