Local Baptist Churches across NSW and the ACT are responding to the immediate needs of flood disaster-affected individuals and families. They are supporting local businesses, replacing damaged items, enabling access to mental health services, clearing trees from properties, and much more.
These churches are uniquely positioned to support communities for the long-term as local players at the local level, engaging in local mission specific to the needs of their communities. In doing so they are “carrying one another’s burdens and fulfilling the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2).
Your generosity towards the Disaster Relief fund means they can be engaging in disaster response and recovery work where it’s needed most. Visit OurStory to learn how our Disaster Relief Funding is being used by churches across NSW and the ACT and click HERE to give. Thanks for your support and generosity!
Prayer & Support for Ukraine
As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are all called to be both peacemakers and people of prayer. If one member suffers, all the members suffer with it and so we seek to stand with those who are suffering and to fervently pray for peace.
The Baptist World Alliance has provided resources for prayer, advocacy and response. You’ll find prayer guides and other resources on the website, including a report from General Secretary Elijah Brown who is currently in the region providing spiritual encouragement and support of Baptist sisters and brothers who are uniting in prayer and advocating for peace.
There is also an opportunity to join with others in corporate prayer. NewHope Global partner Ben Everard (OM State Director) is inviting NewHope members and supporters to attend an OM Prayer for the Nations online event on Monday, March 7th at 7:30pm. OM has workers on the ground in Ukraine who hope to be able to join this prayer gathering live. Please register at https://om.org.au/prayer-
To financially support the humanitarian work in Ukraine, please visit the Baptist World Aid website to find out more and give.
