SUPPORT THE SUPPORTER: Thursday 13 October, 7-8.30PM
When our normal life patterns are suddenly disrupted by a friend or relative’s illness, our usual coping strategies may feel inadequate.Taking care of ourselves is necessary not only to be an effective supporter, but for our own sake, now and in the future. How can we get back to some stability and create a sustainable rhythm where we don’t just survive, but can be the best supporter we can be?
In this workshop we will learn personal skills for taking care of ourselves, and of others.
HELPING CHILDREN EMOTIONALLY REGULATE: Thursday 20 October, 7-8.30pm
What is going on inside your child’s mind and body during their moments of challenging emotional dysregulation? What can you do to help them calm down and change their behaviour?
In this workshop, we will learn to apply a new lens to understand how children attempt to regulate emotions; and learn some easy to implement strategies to become a more effective and attuned parent or carer.
MANAGING ANXIETY: Thursday 27 October, 7-8.30pm
For many of us, anxiety has become a more frequent or regular companion in some way, shape or form, particularly over the last couple of years. What exactly is happening in our brains and bodies when we experience anxiety? How can we learn to counter these conditions or dampen their intensity?
In this workshop, we will gain a deeper understanding of anxiety and learn some practical tools to help us cope with and manage some of the symptoms.
REGULATING EMOTIONS (ADULTS): Thursday 3 November, 7-8.30pm
We’ve all had one of those moments: feeling tired, and overwhelmed, we have an outburst that is more ‘toddler’ than ‘mature adult’. What can we do differently? How can we better manage our emotions, and express ourselves in ways that align with our personal values and standards? What can help us maintain emotional regulation, regardless of what life throws at us?
In this workshop we’ll learn some effective techniques for heightened emotions, so we can act or speak in ways that are consistent with the adult we want to be.
