NHK & NHCC Collecting Snacks for Schools

Published on June 1, 2023

Did you know there are kids at our local schools who show up every day without a snack? With the rising cost of everyday resources, many families lack access to enough food, and we all know kids are little snack attack monsters! This is why we’re inviting families at our church (young and old) to partner with us, as we provide snacks for the schools in our community!

NewHope Community Care and Newhope Kids are partnering together as part of our NHCC June Appeal. Through the month of June, we are encouraging families to buy some fun and yummy snacks which we can give to those who need it.

When you are at your local grocery store, have your child/grandchild/or child at heart, pick a favourite snack, then pack it with the GIVE. SERVE. LOVE. sticker (in a box or bag or any kind of creative storage container you like) and bring it back to church by Sunday, June 25th.

Individually wrapped snacks work best. Some suggested snacks are potato chips, popcorn, muesli bars, protein bars, Tiny Teddies, Shapes and whole grain snacks. Please be mindful of expiration dates and no nuts or lollies/chocolate.

So, snack it, pack it and bring it back! Thank you for caring for the children of our local schools!

What’s next? The opportunity to make a difference doesn’t stop at the end of June! Why not make this a part of your family’s regular routine and get your kids involved in picking out child-friendly snacks, long-life foods, hygiene products etc. for the blue NHCC bins (found at the entrances to the church). These donations go to bless families in our community who are doing it tough. Let’s invite our children to be a part of making a difference and practice generosity together!
