Were you a part of Sign Up Sunday last week?
Following the services there was an opportunity to “sign up” for hands-on community work in a volunteer capacity with NewHope Community Care.
And it’s not too late! There are still many amazing opportunities to get involved and join a team which impacts lives, empowers connectedness, changed communities and shares hope! As we serve, we also learn and our lives too are impacted and enriched. We also have a lot of fun!

Here are some of the areas where there is need. We invite you to consider how you can get involved!
KidsHope Mentor at Kerrimuir Primary
KIDS HOPE AUS connects a local church with a local Primary School where the church provides volunteer mentors to go into the school and spend one hour per week with a child who needs some extra care and support through a one-to-one mentoring relationship.
COME ALONGSIDE FAMILIES DOING IT TOUGH
COACH is a community strengthening program that aims to empower disadvantaged families and build resilience in individuals through one-to-one mentoring. COACH stands for Creating Opportunities And Casting Hope.
CONNECT PEOPLE WITH THINGS THAT CAN HELP
Relief Centre Desk
NHCC’s Food Relief Desk is one of the most vital things we do at NewHope Community Care to come ‘face to face’ with the need in our society. As people reach a breaking point and can’t even afford to put food on the table, they often find us through searching the internet or by word of mouth. Supervising the Relief Centre Desk is a vital point of contact, a chance to show compassion, help people find hope and even consider faith.
HELP IN PRACTICAL WAYS
Relief Centre Helper
Sometimes we need a food parcel or other items delivered to someone’s home. Other times we need someone to mow a lawn or drive someone to a medical appointment. Sometimes we need help picking up and delivering a washing machine in our van.
Food Parcel Packer
On Mondays between 10 – 11am we pack food parcels so they are ready to be given out to the community throughout the week.
Food Pantry Angel
Could you make a commitment to regularly provide stock for the pantry?
Food Swap Team
We have a Food Swap group who meet on the fourth Saturday of every month in our Community Kitchen and Courtyard. This event is a wonderful opportunity to share excess homegrown produce and also make connections with a variety of community members
House of Hope Support Team Member
NewHope has invested in creating a House of Hope in partnership with BaptCare in order to provide a home and support network for families seeking asylum.
CONNECT WITH ISOLATED PEOPLE BY PHONE
Whitehorse Community Support Register
The Whitehorse Community Support Register is a joint initiative between Whitehorse Churches Care and Victoria Police. We are looking for helpers to reach out to isolated people in our community by phone.
BE A LOVING PRESENCE IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
Whitehorse Churches Care Community Hub
Lots of people in the community will never set foot in a church. So we need to be a presence in the places where people are. Whitehorse Churches Care is setting up a Community Hub in Forest Hill Chase Shopping Centre and there are lots of creative ways to get involved.
